Radio One is the largest urban radio network in the country with over 16 million weekly listeners and 61 broadcasts across 13 different markets. I partnered with Radio One Philadelphia to help create a new identity for one of their radio stations. The new radio station would feature R&B music ranging from the mid 90s to today’s newest hits.
Radio One’s vision was established through one key concern — today’s youth does not tune in to radio anymore. This led them to target the middle-aged demographic who still enjoy radio in their day-to-day commute.
To achieve this, we designed a visual identity to reflect the nostalgia that comes with the sound of traditional R&B music, taking inspiration from popular colors and cultural elements that were prominent in the 90s - 2000s.
